Austin Chronicle
REPORTER
Austin's alt-weekly news[paper since 1981
Between 2005 and 2009, I wrote more than 250 feature stories plus over 500 news briefs and blog posts for the Austin Chronicle. My beats included renewable energy and environmental policy, land use, food, and transportation (including bicycling). I got to interview Willie Nelson on his bus and I shared an awkward elevator ride with T. Boone Pickens. My reporting was featured on PBS and CBC Radio Canada. It was a pretty incredible time to be immersed in everything Austin. Along the way, I learned a lot about the value of sterling editorial standards. More importantly, I learned how to tune out the static around big issues, uncover the compelling truth of the matter, and tell a story worth sharing.
